SAKURA & SNOW IN KANAZAWA, KYOTO & OSAKA (8D7N)


Asakusa (Tokyo) 

Asakusa is one of the most popular tourist spots among foreign visitors to Japan. It still has a traditional city atmosphere. 

 

Asakusa's main attraction is Sensoji Temple built in the 7th century. The street approaching to Sensoji is called "Nakamise" which is  a shopping street providing visitors with a variety of traditional, local snacks and tourist souvenirs.


Lake Kawaguchiko

Lake Kawaguchiko is one of  the Fuji Five Lakes. The best views of Mount Fuji can be enjoyed from the lake's northern shores.


The 5th Station of Mt. Fuji

The 5th Station lies at approximately the halfway point of the Yoshida Trail, which leads from Fujiyoshida Sengen Shrine at the mountain's base to the summit of Mount Fuji.

This is the closest point to Mt. Fuji where can be reached by cars and buses.


Takato Castle Site Park

The remains of hilltop Takato Castle surrounded by a cacophony of beautiful sakura (cherry blossom) in April. 

 


Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route

It is a spectacular route through the Northern Japan Alps. 

In spring, accumulated snow form a majestic snow corridor. A section of the snow corridor around Murodo is open to pedestrians usually from mid April to mid June. The Alpine Route is completely inaccessible from December to mid April.

 


Kenrokuen Garden (Kanzawa)

Kenrokuen is classified as one of Japan's "three most beautiful landscape gardens". The garden was constructed by the ruling Maeda family over a period of nearly two centuries. It is located in the center of Kanazawa city and it is a garden where people can appreciate the beauty of four seasons.


Kanazawajo Castle (Kanazawa)

Kanazawajo Castle was founded in 1583 when the Maeda family moved to Kanazawa to establish the Kaga Domain.

"Ishikawa-mon" Gate and The "Sanjukken Nagaya" have been designated as a National Important Cultural Asset. 


Higashichaya District (Kanazawa)

Higashichaya District is the most prestigious and grandest of the remaining three streets in Kanazawa and has been designated as a site of Important Traditional Japanese Architecture. "Chaya"houses with red-brown lattices line a narrow stone road. The area still remains the atmosphere of 1820s.


Shirakawago

The Shirakawago is famous for traditional "gassho-zukuri" farmhouses, some of which are more than 250 years old. It declared a UNESCO world heritage site in 1995.

 

Gassho-zukuri means "constructed like hands in prayer", as the farmhouses' steep thatched roofs resemble the hands of Buddhist monks pressed together in prayer.

 


Kiyomizudera Temple (Kyoto)

Kiyomizudera Temple was founded in 780 on the site of the Otowa Waterfall in the wooded hills east of Kyoto, and derives its name from the fall's pure waters.  In 1994, the temple was added to the list of UNESCO world heritage sites.


Arashiyama (Kyoto)

Arashiyama is in the far west of Kyoto, tucked along the base of the Arashiyama Mountains.

The main street of Arashiyama is along with the famed Togetsu-kyo Bridge.

The Bamboo Grove is another spots should be visited for taking photographs.


Ninnaji Temple (Kyoto)

The Ninnaji Temple was built at the end of the 9th century. Although much of it was destroyed by fire in the internal strife of the 15th century, it was rebuilt at the beginning of the 17th century with buildings moved here from the Imperial Palace in Kyoto.

The temple is also famous as a place for viewing cherry blossoms during the spring.


Sakura Spot at Osaka Mint Bureau (Osaka)

The Osaka Mint Bureau is one of cherry blossom viewing spots. A path near the bureau along with the Yodo River, beautiful "yae-zakura"(doubled flowered cherry trees) are blooming beautifully. Yae-zakura typically have a later blooming season than other cherry trees in mid to late April.

Every year for only one week in April the Mint Bureau opens up its path for cherry blossom viewing and people flock there from all over Japan to take in the beautiful flowers. 


Dotonbori-Shinsaibashi District (Osaka)

This area is a southern part of Osaka city. Many people enjoy shopping at Shinsaibashi and dining at Dotonbori.

 

 

Dotonbori is a district to see many gigantic signboards such as mechanized crab of the Kani Doraku. Those are very interesting subjects for your photo.


Osaka Castle Park (Osaka)

Osaka Castle Park opened in 1931. We can see about 600 cherry trees in April. The magnificent moats and the stone walls consist of numbers of huge stones and they are symbols of the solid defenses of the Tokugawa-built Osaka Castle. 

 

The Nishinomaru Garden of Osaka Castle has 600 cherry trees and it is one of Osaka's most popular cherry blossom viewing "hanami" spots.
