CHERRY BLOSSOM & SNOW IN TOHOKU, JAPAN (7D6N)


Tsurugajo Castle (Aizu-Wakamatsu City)

This castle was constructed nearly 600 years ago. It was a key castle located at the center of the Tohoku area. During the civil war at the end of the Edo Period, the Meiji government army attacked it for a month. The buildings are deconstructed in 1873 which is 6th year of Meiji era, and the current castle tower was rebuilt in 1965.


Weeping Cherry at Nicchu Line Memorial Road (Fukushima Prefecture)

During the season of full bloom of cherry blossoms, about 1,000 of the weeping cherry  trees are along the  3 km road. A SL train is a perfect shooting spot.


"Eboshiyama Senbon Zakura" (1,000 Cherry Trees)

(Yamagata Prefecture)

Around 1,000 cherry trees make flowers bloom at Eboshiyama Park which were built by volunteers in Meiji era. This park is located overlooking the Yonezawa basins.

 


Bukeyashiki Street in Kakunodate (Akita Prefecture)

Kakunodate is an old castle town located in Akita Prefecture of Japan. This town is known both for its historic samurai mansions and the beautiful blossoming cherry trees that line the streets. 


Hachimantai Aspite Line (Morioka City)

The Aspite Line is a 27-km mountain sightseeing road that runs through Towada-Hachimantai National Park straddling Iwate and Akita. The Aspite Line is closed during winter due to heavy snow, but in late April, the road is reopened with impressively high walls of snow on both sides; the snow walls.


Lake Towadako (Aomori Prefecture)

Lake Towadako is part of the Towada-Hachimantai National Park and is the largest caldera lake on Honshu, Japan's main island. Located on the border between Akita and Aomori Prefectures.


Hakkoda Ropeway (Aomori City)

Hakkoda Ropeway is located in the north part of Towada-Hachimantai National Park in Aomori. It climb up 649.5 m in about 10 minutes.

A magnificent snowy landscape spreads outside of the ropeway car.

Hirosakijo Castle (Aomori Prefecture)

Hirosakijo Castle is the only one castle tower in Tohoku area. The castle tower was rebuilt at Edo Era. Beautiful cherry blossoms are blooming in the spring. The castle tower behind the cherry blossoms is the scene should be taken in pictures.


Kitakami Tenshochi (Iwate Prefecture)

Kitagami Tenshochi is one of three best cherry blossom viewing places in Tohoku area.

 


Chusonji Konjikido (Golden Hall) (Iwate Prefecture)

Konjikido is constructed in 1124.  his small hall is dedicated to Amida Nyorai (the Buddha of Infinite Light) and apart from the roof, is covered with gold leaf both inside and out.

It is the national treasure and is a part of Hiraizumi's Clutural Heritage registered as a World Heritage Site.


Matsushima (Miyagi Prefecture)

Matsushima is one of Japan's three most scenic places ("Nihon Sankei"). It is located half an hour outside of Sendai. Matsushima is famous for its bay, which is dotted by many pine clad islets.
